Over the last three weeks, we've been building the foundation of the CEO Reset. Week 1, we identified the 6 systems every business needs to scale. Week 2, we learned to prioritise properly and time-block our ideal week. Week 3, we defined our destination: our mission and OKRs that give us direction. If you've been doing the work, you should be feeling clearer about where you're going and what matters most. But here's where most CEOs stumble: They do the exercises once, feel great about it, and then... nothing changes. The mission gets saved in a folder. The OKRs sit in a notebook. The ideal week gets buried under reactive mode by Tuesday afternoon. Why? Because there's no intentional rhythm holding it all together. This week, we fix that. The Weekly CEO Power HourThis is the engine room of the CEO Reset. The 60-minute ritual that ties everything together:
It's the habit that makes everything else stick. Here's what I've learned after years of coaching business owners and running my own business: the CEOs who protect this one hour every week are the ones who actually transform their businesses. The ones who skip it? They stay stuck in reactive mode, no matter how good their plans look on paper. When to Do It (And Why This Matters)Sunday evening OR Monday morning—BEFORE you check your email. That last part is critical. If you open your inbox first, you've already lost. You're already reacting. Someone else's priority has already hijacked your week. My co-founder Phumla does hers Sunday evening. I do mine Monday morning at 7:30am with a cup of coffee after the morning chaos of the school run and before my staff arrive. Find what works for you. But protect it like your business depends on it. Because it does. The 60-Minute BreakdownHere's the exact agenda I use every single week: PART 1: REFLECT (10 minutes)Start by looking back at last week with brutal honesty:
Write it down. Pattern recognition is how you get smarter. Most CEOs skip this step because it feels uncomfortable to admit what didn't get done. But that discomfort is where the learning happens. PART 2: PRIORITISE (20 minutes)This is where you review your 6 systems and decide what gets your attention this week. But here's the problem most CEOs face during this part of the CEO Power Hour: You're guessing. You think marketing needs attention. You feel like operations is the issue. But without a proper diagnostic, you're making decisions based on what's shouting loudest—not what's actually broken. This is why I created the 6 Systems Health Check—a 15-minute assessment that gives you a scored evaluation across all 6 systems and tells you exactly where your biggest bottleneck is. Without it, your CEO Power Hour looks like this:
With it, your CEO Power Hour looks like this:
See the difference? If you dont have a tool like this then, for now, use your best judgement: Look at your 6 systems and ask yourself honestly:
Which one feels most broken? That's your focus system for this month. Want the actual diagnostic Tool? Get the 6 Systems Health Diagnostic Tool herePART 3: PLAN (20 minutes) Now you block time in your calendar. Not "think about" blocking time. Actually do it. A) Monthly System Focus Time (Your lowest-scoring system)
B) Strategic Work (The other systems that need attention)
C) Team Meetings (Only meetings with clear outcomes)
Calendar Audit: Look at your scheduled meetings. Do they actually move the business forward? If not, cancel or delegate them. Protect your blocked strategic time as if it's a client meeting—because it is. You're the client. What you have just done is prioritised the growth of your business by allocating time to fix what really matters. Thanks not reactive, that is intentional. PART 4: COMMIT (10 minutes)Finally, you commit. In writing. You could copy and paste this into a word doc / notebook / notion - whatever you use This Week's Commitments: 1. My ONE Big Win for This Week: What's the single most important thing that must happen this week? Not three things. ONE. 2. Progress on My Focus System [Your lowest-scoring system]: What specific, measurable outcome will you achieve on your monthly focus system? 3. Obstacles That Might Stop Me: What fires, distractions, or emergencies might derail this plan? Name them now so they don't surprise you later. 4. Support I Need: What help, resources, or accountability do you need to succeed? 5. Accountability:
Write it down. Better yet, send it to someone who will actually ask you about it on Friday. The "Numbers Layer"Here's what I find takes my CEO Power Hour to the next level: I started asking: What does my week need to PRODUCE to keep my business sustainable and growing? Not just tasks. Numbers.
When you add this numbers layer to your ideal week, you stop building the business by feel and start designing the outcome. It's deceptively simple, but it really adds a layer of personal accountability because it is so measurable. What This Hour PreventsLet's be clear about what you're avoiding by protecting this one hour:
One hour. Every week. Before the chaos begins. That's the price of transformation. Your Assignment This Week1. Schedule Your First CEO Power Hour Put it in your calendar right now. Recurring. Every week. Same time. Non-negotiable. Sunday evening or Monday morning—before you check email. 2. Use the 4-Part Agenda
3. Add the Numbers Layer What does this week need to produce? Write down the actual numbers. 4. Your Micro-Commitment Protect this hour for the next 4 weeks. Just 4 weeks. See what happens. Coming Up Next WeekNext week we're diving into the 6 Systems diagnostic in detail—starting with Leadership & Strategy. Over the last two weeks, we've done some important groundwork. Week 1, we introduced the CEO Reset and the 6 systems every business needs to scale. Week 2, we cleared the mental clutter, sorted our priorities, and built an ideal week designed to produce results—not just fill time. If you did the work, you should already be feeling a little more in control. This week, we go deeper. And in many ways, this is the most important email in the entire series. Because here's the uncomfortable truth...
Last week I introduced you to the CEO Reset and the 6 systems every business needs to scale. If you missed it, you can catch up here: [LINK TO LAST WEEK'S BLOG] TThis week we're getting practical. Fast. Because here's the truth most productivity gurus won't tell you: Your to-do list isn't a plan. It's a source of anxiety. Most business owners I work with start their week feeling like they're already behind. My friend and co-founder Phumla told me that she plans on a Sunday night so that when...
How Two Conversations Led to the CEO Reset Last week, two things happened that changed everything. First, my co-founder and friend Phumla and I ran a Reset Challenge for healthcare practice owners. The 4-day challenge was action-packed and full of best practice. At the end of the challenge, I reflected on what we had just taken people through—a collection of frameworks that I have, at one time or another, used myself, but not as it was presented. You know what they say about the cobbler’s...
