December 2024 is the most important month of 2025

I'm still working hard in December 2024 and I can hardly believe it!

The last 6 weeks have been a game-changer—I’ve just had my best sales month yet, bringing on three new 1:1 coaching clients since mid-November! Every single one came through word-of-mouth referrals from my incredible clients. Each of these new clients are eager to make 2025 different. They’ve all booked strategy mornings with me to lock in their plans before the year wraps up.

I know the Beach / Bush / Pool is calling your name, but its the last push — there’s still work to be done. What’s the focus? Planning. Let’s ensure 2025 is everything we hope it can be.

5 Steps to Start 2025 Strong

As 2024 winds down, it’s tempting to wait until January to plan—but those who act now will be the ones leading the pack in 2025. Here are five focused steps to help you plan with intention and position yourself for success.

1. Audit Contracts and Mitigate Risks

Your contracts are the backbone of your business’s stability. For private practices, this includes patient referral agreements, supplier arrangements, and service contracts. For small business owners, think vendor agreements, lease terms, and client retainers.

Here’s what to do now:
- Review all contracts set to expire in 2025 and prioritise key renewals.
- Check for hidden risks like restrictive clauses or dependencies on single suppliers.
- Start negotiations early to secure favourable terms and avoid disruptions.
- Have contingency plans ready. For instance, know your backup options if a key contract isn’t renewed.

Addressing these risks now will save you time, money, and stress down the line.

2. Define Your Product Roadmap

Do you know exactly what you’ll be offering in 2025? Whether you’re introducing new treatments at your practice or expanding your services, a clear roadmap gives you direction and purpose.

What to consider:
- Identify which products, services, or treatments performed best in 2024. Should they remain a priority?
- Plan new launches. Healthcare providers might introduce a specialist programme, while small businesses could roll out a subscription service.
- Allocate time for testing and feedback. For example, trial a new service with select clients before a full rollout.

A solid roadmap helps you act with intention, ensuring your efforts build momentum.

3. Forecast Revenue from New Offerings

Not every idea turns a profit. Forecasting helps you identify winners before committing resources.

Here’s how to approach this:
- Look at your current customer base. What’s the demand for your new ideas?
- Use historical data or industry case studies to estimate revenue potential.
- Build scenarios—best case, worst case, and expected case—to assess risks and opportunities.

Forecasting isn’t just about numbers—it’s about preparing for what’s possible.

4. Prepare for Future Investments

Growth requires investment. The key is choosing costs that deliver real returns.

What to review:
- Team expansion: Could hiring support free you to focus on higher-impact work?
- Equipment and tools: Is it time for upgrades to improve efficiency or service quality?
- Marketing spend: Should you reinvest in branding or scale up outreach efforts?

Prioritise investments that align with your strategic goals and promise measurable outcomes.

5. Build a Budget That Aligns with Your Vision

A budget isn’t just a financial document—it’s a roadmap that aligns resources with your goals.

Key steps:
- Combine outputs from Steps 1–4 to create a holistic financial plan.
- Allocate funds based on impact. For example, if marketing offers a high ROI, dedicate more resources there.
- Leave room for contingencies—unexpected costs will arise, and preparedness is key.
- Review your cash flow to ensure sustainable growth.

Your budget should tell the story of your 2025 goals—and be the blueprint to achieving them.

Growing Your Healthcare Practice: Taking Back Control in a Challenging System "She looked defeated." That’s what Phumla and I said to each other after getting off a call with a physiotherapist working in private practice. She was done. So demotivated. The excitement she had when she started her practice two years ago had completely faded. Her earnings were tied to what the medical aids were willing to pay, eating into her profitability. The work was constant, but the financial reward? Hardly...
